Title VI Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships

The Title VI Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowship is awarded on an annual competitive basis to incoming and continuing graduate students. This fellowship provides tuition fees and a stipend. Students must study a Southeast Asian language for full credit and undertake area studies course work that supports their research program. Fellowships are awarded for both the academic year and summer. The Center administers the selection process for the FLAS fellowships, while the Berkeley Graduate Division disburses the funds. A faculty committee reviews graduate student applications in February and awards are normally announced in April. FLAS competitions are limited to permanent residents or U.S. citizens.

Pacific Rim Research Program
