Health & Insurance
All participants must have health and accident insurance plans that are valid abroad. This insurance should include Emergency Medical Evaluation as well as Repatriation of Remains coverage. The VASI staff at UC Berkeley can recommend insurance carriers that offer policies relevant for students attending overseas programs.
VASI does not assume any responsibility for any injury, accident, illness and loss of personal property, or other contingencies that may befall participants during, or as a result of, their stay abroad.
For information on inoculations, VASI participants should follow the recommendations of their own health care provider. Additional information may be obtained at the Center for Disease Control website www.cdc.gov, by following the link to traveler information for Vietnam: http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/destinationVietnam.aspx.
The U.S. Citizen Services section on the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City website - http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov - includes information about doctors available in the city. The main website includes updated health and travel information.
