Vietnamese Advanced Summer Institute
Eligibility
VASI applicants are expected to have attained an intermediate level of proficiency in Vietnamese before attending VASI. All applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and either a graduate student, junior or senior in an institution of higher education; a faculty member or K-12 teacher; or an area studies or foreign language education administrator.
You are not eligible to apply for VASI if you have participated in a U.S. Department of Education Group Project Abroad program or Seminar Abroad program within the past two years or have had a total of four awards already with either the U.S. Department of Education Group Projects Abroad program or Seminars Abroad program.
Applicants who are unemployed or not enrolled in a program of academic study or who are native speakers are also not eligible.
Applicants should be aware that the VASI participants may NOT be accompanied by family members, domestic partners, or friends who have not been admitted into the program.
